From the Review Pile is a meme hosted by Stepping Out of the Page every Thursday.
The aim of this meme is to showcase books that you've received for review (or if you don't receive review books, any book that you own and really want to read/review) but haven't yet got around to reading, in order to give the book some extra publicity.
I know that a lot of you have a huge pile of books that you want to read/review, but it understandably takes a while to get around to reading them all - here you can give a book (or two!) some of the publicity that it deserves, even if you haven't read it yet!
This week, I'm going to showcase Fake Mustache by Tom Angleberger!
I remember having a good laugh when the postman delivered this book to me for review. I hadn't seen it before, so it came as quite a surprise for such a funny book to get to me - it even came with it's own fake mustache! Perhaps this is aimed more towards younger readers, but it does look like a very fun book!

Oh, that looks like a fun read! I don't know how I feel about books that come out with toys and such? Perhaps it is to entice younger ones to pick up their book, but I fear it can be a distraction from the novel at times.
ReplyDeleteFor example, my little sister loves to buy the books that come with necklaces, but they are below her reading level. I don't know. I guess I'm just bitter with them because 1. I never got cool toys with my books and 2. It just seems sad to think my sister only wants to read a book because there was a toy.

ReplyDeleteOh, I got this one at ALA earlier this year, but I knew I wouldn't get to it for awhile, so I gave it to my nephews. :) I figured they'd enjoy it as much as me, if not more. :D

Since you live in England, you are probably not as fascinated as I am in British History! LOL!

Off the top of my head, recent reads I really enjoyed are by Julie Klassen and Tamera Alexander.
And on the historical romance side there is always Jean Plaidy aka Victoria Holt who is a perennial favorite.
If you like Classic Regency type reads, I enjoy Georgette Heyer as well.
A fun saga type America-based read I devoured was ROSES by Leila Meacham.
Ciji Ware is another author who is pretty well liked.

ReplyDeleteSounds like such a fun book! What is it about those mustaches lately? ;) I saw something on Pinterest the other day about mustaches and how they relate to evilness (thinking of villains). Pretty cute.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I had avocado until in my 20's. Now I just love it - it is creamy smooth but you do need to add salt and pepper. Have a great week.
