Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read
The question that everyone was asked this week was:
Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favourite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.
Okay, anyone who knows me will know that there's one musician that I am totally in love with, and that is....
The extremely eccentric, hugely talented and beautiful Kate Bush!
I love every single album that this lady has produced, but my favourite would have to be Hounds of Love, especially The Ninth Wave section, based on a poem by Tennyson - there are a whole load of references to literature in many of her songs.
My favourite songs by Kate are Under the Ivy and This Woman's Work.
However, this being a book blog, I'll have to share with you the song that started off my love for Bronte's Wuthering Heights!
My second favourite singer would have to be Amanda Palmer (Also of The Dresden Dolls). I also like bands/singers such as The Script, Darren Hayes, Marina & The Diamonds, Gwen Stefani, Placebo, Florence & The Machine and more!

My husband is a huge fan of The Dresden Dolls. I don't know Kate Bush by name, but I may know her music. I often hear music I like but don't ever know the name of the song or who the performer is. I'll have to check her out and see if she's one of those people. :) If not, I may find a new favorite.
ReplyDeleteAs you know I love Florence and the Machine, but Placebo is also one of my favorites. As for the others, I'll have to check them out :)

OOh I do like Gwen! Although I haven't really listened to her lately, I do like her older stuff. Moreso when she was Gwen in No Doubt!

Yes! I adore Kate Bush! As well as Amanda Palmer, though I admit I never listened to her until Ben Folds produced her one album ... now I'm into her and the Dresden Dolls. Good taste!

ReplyDeleteInteresting selection, I liked the songs.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it's pretty true that most of us book blogger folk do like music. I love when I hear a song and reminds me of a story :D
