In My Mailbox (13)

In My Mailbox (IMM) is hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren
In My Mailbox is a place to showcase your new books,
whether you obtained them through the post or otherwise.

First of all, I want to apologise for the lack of posts this week! I can tell you that I've just finished reading Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Corriel in preparation for Blog Tour that's coming soon! The book is released in May and I do think it's one to look out for! Keep an eye our for my review coming soon!

Onto the mailbox...
I got some very exciting and fun looking ARCs and books for review this week!  They included Arcadia Awakens, Drive By, Girl Parts, Brave New Love, In The Snow, Broods Of Fenrir (Thanks Coral!), Dear Dylan..., Cold Hands, Warm Heart, How to Keep a Boy as a Pet and the first two in the Hattori Hachi Trilogy, Stalking the Enemy and The Revenge of the Praying Mantis. I'm going to be very busy but I love the sound of these!

I swapped five books this week and received these in return! I'm very excited to read Shooting Stars, Della Says: OMG! and Slide - I've heard some good things about them all. Not my usual genre, but One Good Turn is a quick read story about WW1 which really fascinates me. I thought I should try out One for the Money too - It doesn't sound like my kind of thing at all, but after the rave reviews I've heard, I'll give it a chance!
I was so disappointed to learn that my local independent book store (Appleby's in Morpeth) is closing down - it's been there ever since I can remember! They were having a closing down sale though, so I did manage to pick up some half price books - they included Cross My Heart, Witches of the East, Seeing Emily, Boy Proof, Chloe Leiberman, Confessions of a Serial Kisser, Cycler, One Girl, Two Decks, Three Degrees of Love, Catwalk, Grave Minder, Huntress, The Game, Breaking Up is Really, Really Hard to Do and the book with possibly my favourite cover EVER - The Language of Flowers
Even after buying all those yesterday, I couldn't resist going out and buying some more books that I've been wanting to get my hands on for a while - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Everneath and Someone Else's Life!

  6. Serious overhaul you've got here! Can't wait to read the reviews for most of these. And your local bookstore is closing! That's really sad, I'm sorry! I love my local independent bookstore and if it closed I'd be heartbroken. :( But it's nice that you got a lot of books at their closing down sale.

  8. Hi, Steph!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my Shelf Candy Saturday post!! Much appreciated!

I'm looking at all the books in your mailbox, and my mouth is hanging open. You are SO VERY LUCKY!!! WOW!! What a tremendous haul!! I sure hope you enjoy them all!! (Excuse me while I go put on some foundatation...my face is starting to turn this weird shade of green...lol.) Thanks for sharing!!

I'm so sorry your local bookstore is closing... we had a similar experience here in Miami, Florida (USA), as well as worldwide, when the famous Border's chain closed... Thank God we still have Barnes & Noble!! I sure hope you can find another bookstore close to you. If not, there's always The Book Depository, as well as Amazon! And, of course, eBay!! I know it won't be quite the same, though. To me, there's nothing quite like walking into a bookstore, and seeing all those shelves full of lovely books!!!! Ah, bliss!!!

  29. What a great selection of books! I am so very sorry that it comes at the cost of your Indie Bookstore. It would break my heart beyond belief if the Dickson Street Bookshop ever closed down - I can trace the growth of my love for reading within its cramped walls.

  38. Interesting array! I read Boy Proof a while back, and it taught me about paring down my writing style, as it is bare bones but very cool (and when I read it I was overwriting a bit). Love that After the Snow cover. Beautiful cover art!
BTW, following you now here & at Goodreads.
