Follow Friday (5)

The question that everyone was asked this week was:

What would you prefer: reading your favourite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? Why?

I wouldn't really enjoy either, but I would certainly choose to read 100s of mediocre books rather than the same book over and over again. It's very rare that I ever read a book more than once, simply because I would already know what is happening and it wouldn't be as exciting for me. I would hate to have to read my favourite book repeatedly because, although I'd probably discover some new things, at some point I would get sick of it and ruin what the book once was for me. 
Sure, mediocre books aren't very exciting, but at least I'd be getting some variety and some new ideas in my head.  I think that sometimes it's up to your imagination to do some work for itself, and even with mediocre books, if I was forced to read them, I think I could make them a little more enjoyable for myself.

    Actually, I've gotten to read the same book over and over because for a long time that was all there was available to me, and I think I would go with the mediocre books. because I did reach a point where I could quote by memory most of the stories and they sort of lost a bit of their sparkle.

    I had to walk away and read other stuff and let time pass before I could enjoy them again!

    I still disagree on this one. Mediocre books are almost worse than books you really can't stand. At least the books you can't stand you still feel passionately about. lol.

    I feel like jumping up and down in joy! I finally found someone else who (like myself) rarely re-reads!! I agree that there is so much good stuff out there, I want to find that next great book rather than more of the same.

    I hardly ever re-read anymore. Simply because I still have wayyyy too many new reads that I want to read! But if I ever did get the chance I wouldn't mind re-reading a fave!

    I chose to reread my favorite book, but I get what you mean. I seriously hate repeating something over and over again, but if it's my favorite book, i feel like i COULD reread it over again and never tire of it, y'know? New follower!

    If I really enjoyed a book I could re-read it quite a few times am the same for films which some I have watched well over 100 time! But I do understand because I do like to read different books to find another favourite book.

    I wouldn't enjoy either option either but I don't think I could suffer through 100's of mediocre books willingly.

    You make a good point. I think I would re-read my favourite. After all, it is my favourite for a reason and I'm sure that there will be lots that I missed out on the first time around. :)

    I love re-reading. I enjoy reading a story and spending time with characters I care about. I don't think either are good though. Having to choose between mediocre books or only a select few to read your whole life. Both are no-wins to me! But, I do enjoy re-reading. I like to take a time out from my TBR pile and go back to my favorites. There is comfort there.
